ThE 2018 easter egg drop challenge!
At our March 26th Pre-Easter vacation meeting, students were challenged to build a structure to protect an egg from a 10 foot fall with only drinking straws, pipe cleaners, and tape. Way to go, girls!
Science + History + Legos!
This week we learned about the influential women who have served as “building blocks” for women in the STEM fields!
circuit-trees!
On 11/30, we made our own circuits using old Christmas lights!
We learned why some strands of lights stop working completely when only one bulb goes out. Holiday tip from the STEM girls: make sure your lights are arranged in a parallel circuit!

MET GaLa dress
We will be creating a light-up dress inspired by the L.E.D. dress worn by Claire Danes at the 2016 Met Gala. We will construct a dress from scratch and code individual neopixel LEDs that will be sewn into the skirt with conductive thread. These neopixels connect back to a Gemma microcontroller that holds the code, or instructions, for the lights. 3D printed jewelry will complete the look!
Snapchat geotag
In the spring of 2016, the STEM Club held a contest for all students to submit designs for a Merion Mercy Snapchat geotag on Snapchat. Below are the winning designs that are now live on Snapchat!
